DDR Konamix for Sony Playstation

Dance Dance Revolution Konamix, or otherwise known as DDR Konamix, is the 3rd version of Dance Dance Revolution to be released for the Playstation in the US. It is named Konamix because all of the songs are Konami originals. Most of the songs on this game are from the second, third, fourth and fifth versions of the Japanese DDR games; the rest of them are club mixes of other original DDR songs with a few songs original to the North American game. There are a total of 52 songs available, but only 32 are ready to play from the start. The other 20 songs must be unlocked through game play.
Most US releases of a games have a Japanese equivalent, and DDR Konamix is no exception, its sister game is Dance Dance Revolution 4th mix. For the most part, the only change between the release in Japan and North America are a few songs that are exclusive for the US. Features not available in previous games include the use of corner buttons, tempo changes, and the most obvious being the music.
When DDR Konamix was originally released, it did not receive a lot of favorable reviews because there were not a lot of changes made to the series from DDR Disney Mix to this one. While the songs were all original to Konami, not having songs that are popular in the mainstream hurt the game in the reviews as well. However, if you are a plain old Dance Dance Revolution fan and not a video game critic then you should not have a problem liking this game. You see, gamers are always looking for a lot of new and innovative things in their games while the mainstream players may be happy with what they are familiar with. The good news is, if you are new to the series, you won’t know the difference.
I know I may have thrown you for a loop in that previous paragraph, because I am obviously writing about this game 9 years after it has been released. The good thing with playing an older game is it is easier to find tips and tricks around the web for passing a difficult level, the other thing is you can often get older games at a steal. Who knows, there may even be an old Playstation system laying around the house for you to get started with. If not, then you can pick one up for a steal at a rummage sale around town or even on eBay. Don’t worry if you cannot find a system to play this version of DDR, there are plenty more games in this series that you can pick up for current generation systems. Granted the entry cost will be more, but you can count on more new releases and features to be released on future games.
